Another lovely snow day.

SO we have had another busy week around here. Sam has a big fever today so we are a bit sick, but it is kind of nice to have him want to just cuddle. Snuggling the dictator. That is what it is like. As the youngest he is quite the boss.

So, let's see what I have been sewing on this week.

I finished Rae Ann's order and I just love how it turned out. This Stu was tricky because it is actually 2 Stu totes. A DCU one and a BDU one inside. This was a pretty thick bag to quilt on, but the results are fine, if I do say so myself. I also made her another smaller bag (below somewhere) because she has always been so sweet and wonderful. And so very patient! Thank you Rae Ann for your wonderful business!

I sorted my boxes of scraps into 2 gallon Ziploc bags that I had to go to Walmart to find. My friend Jennifer swears by the 2 gallon zip lock bag. So I decided to give them a try too. My scraps are now organized my color family and I am pretty happy about it.

I sorted them to get ready for my little sewing class that I had on Thursday. We made quilted pillow case covers out of scrap fabric. It sounded like a sweat shop in here. All these lovely little sewing machines purring away. I really like doing the classes. I hope I can find some friends to sew with at our next duty station.

Alice came to the class too and she whipped out 2 pillow case covers. Well done, Alice!
After the ladies went home to meet their kiddos after school, I walked up to take Ethan to a little play date with his new friend, Luke. His mom and I had a pretty great time ourselves by exploring the basement and attic of an empty dwelling here on post. I am not going to say WHERE it was, just that it was pretty fun and REALLY creepy! I have a big bruise on my bottom from my very ungraceful climb through the attic window. I don't think I have a future as a cat burglar, especially since I was laughing so hard I almost wet my britches. Break ins with Tia! Good times.

This is the doll quilt I have decided to swap this go round on DQS8. I am having a great time quilting it. I am pretty wild for this design and I think I will do a tutorial on how I made these blocks. I love a quilt block tutorial and I don't know why I don't do more of them. I am fine with parting with this quilt because I think I am going to ask my Row10 quilting bee gang to do crosses for my month.

This is the little bag I made for Rae Ann. Aren't the flying geese great?
Have a great day! I am going to get the 2 healthy kids dressed warm enough to go sledding!

Burrrrrrrrr.

Jess, I get fabric All over the place. Hawthorn threads has some very nice ones, some are old from ancient times (just kidding but some are about 7 years old) You are welcome to come over and look at selvedges if you like. We should make a trip to Sarah's Fabric in Lawrence. I am SURE she will have some for you.

As far as orders go...we are once again getting ready to move. Since this was just a school for my husband we are only here for a year. We Think we may know where we are going, but as usual we can't do it the normal way. I don't want to put anything down in writing until my husband has orders in hot little hands. The Army likes to change it's mind with us. ;o)

Orders are always fun, and not fun at the same time! I hope you get a location you will love! Also, I saw one of your bags in person this weekend (as I have been going back and forth about getting one) and they are absolutely beautiful! I have made up my mind and I plan on getting one as soon as you are setteled in! Good luck, and safe wishes!

Tia, seems like you just got settled! Wish you could get orders for Oregon but unfortuantely, no Army posts near here. Best of luck & we'll watch as life unfolds.
