We are back on US soil.

We are in Denver for today and tomorrow. What a lovely city. And I am again struck by how International the US is, truly a melting pot. If I would have been more with it in LA I would have gotten some great Latino food, but it was all Stu and I could do to herd our little tribe through all the lines and security checks. We flew United Airlines and they completely blew my expectations out of the water. Clean planes and one of the most friendly crews (Qantas still takes the cake on friendly crews but United was a close second). My children did awesome on the flights. I am so happy they are such good little travelers. They can't wait to see their grandparents - so that may have something to do with it.

Can I tell you how overwhelmed I am by everything? Last night we went out to dinner at Applebees. Stu wanted wings and just needed to eat something. I guess I forgot about how extensive menus can be here and all the options you have! The kiddos were so thrilled with "Real American Mac& Cheese". SO many channels on the TV! SO many new shows too. 3 years without TV and now all the sudden so much to watch. We have not been to any shops yet, but I kinda dread that. I know that might sound crazy, but being in such a small town with so few shops...it is going to take a bit to get used to all the people and the prices of EVERYTHING is so cheap! My exception is a grocery store. I want Stu to drop me off and come back in about 2 hours so I can have time to wonder around and take in all the produce.

Alice springs had shops, and they had what you "need" not neccessarily what you "want". That is something we go over with the kids often...need verses want. LOL!

Well, we are here and we love being back!

I think we are going to go to the Zoo.

XO,
Tia

Welcome home! I am glad you had safe flights :)

It's so interesting to hear you say that things are so cheap here-most people complain about the prices being too high! We are actually pretty spoiled with the prices we pay here in the US, though. I have friends in Canada, France and England who are all envious of food and fabric prices here! ~ Jennie

Woo hoo! Home Sweet Home! Glad you had a great trip, your almost there. You have inspired me to just dive in and sew. Loved all the quilts that were donated to the bushfire quilt project. Lots of amazing people. Enjoy all the stores/shops etc., especially your family. How exciting for you.

Welcome home! My dad worked his entire career for United Airlines so I tend to favor them and be a little bias, I am glad you had such a good experience with them!

Hi Tia, Glad you are back ok. I can imagine it must be quite a culture shock! but I am sure you will get used to it very quickly again! Just think of all the fabric too!! :-) Hope the zoo is grand. I haven't been for years, you've put an idea in my head now! Have fun all of you and well done for the youngsters behaving so well and being good little travellers!

Just wait until you have to go to a grocery store! The big ones still kinda freak me out a year after returning to the US.
