Our stuff from Oz has arrived

The eagle has landed! Well at least a bunch of junk has arrived. Do you ever feel like that? When all your stuff gets to wherever you are and you were so excited to get it, but when it arrives you kinda wish you still didn't have anything? Well, I really don't feel like that, but I think my husband does. I know the kids are thrilled to have their bikes and dolls and cars and transformers and books and all the little things that make them thrive. My children (on their way to Disney World with their Grandparents) told my mom and dad that Stu and I had thrown all their toys and clothing away in Australia. Oh my mom was HOT. How could I do that? What was I thinking? I had no clue what she was talking about, but this afternoon Emma said that she thought we had thrown everything away. So there, Mom, I didn't throw everything away! Really I didn't! You can see for yourself next week when you come by to visit. Our dwelling is now bursting at the seams with Stuff.

Now, part of this I attribute to my mate. He decided to try something new with the movers. They were to not only unload the truck but also unpack the boxes and hump out their cardboard and paper. So I had big men unpacking all my fabric and kitchen and everything, so now all the beds are covered with crap and I can barely get around the kitchen due to all the dishes, pots and pans and glasses being strewn all over the place. My house looks like a total dump. I know it will get all straightened out, but for now I cringe as I go through the house. I know what I will be doing for my Labor Day weekend! What will you be doing for yours? Whatever you are doing be safe and creative!

xo,
Tia

PS, Sam is the only one still ill. So I think the flu has worked it's way through the Curtis Clan. Oh and Ike (the black cat) is totally freaked out he has wedged his body under one of the radiators. I kinda feel like joining him. Maybe everything will be tidy when we emerge. What do you think?

It is worth a try. I hate moving. We did it one year ago this month. I hope things go well for you. Sending many good thoughts that everything fits in the cupboards in the kitchen:-)

I am envious of all your fabric!

Oh dear!! I'm not sure whether to laugh or not??!!! Okay, I'll laugh, murdering your husband just isn't worth it!! Ah, he thought it would be easier, now you have to muck through everything and organize it. Well, at least its all out in view and you KNOW what you have, and what will go where. Maybe.

I've always been tempted to have the movers unpack so that they could take away all the empty boxes, but I hate the idea of everything dumped out around the house (I like to deal with one box at a time). I'd totally be under the radiator with you and the cat!

Hey Tia! So glad you are getting settled! Look at it this way... If the movers had put it all in the cupboards, you would not have had a clue where it all was, and had to take it all out and rearrange anyway! So now, just close your eyes to the mess, and put things back logically one by one and you will end up having done it AND knowing where it all is!

When we moved last time, my other half had the bright idea to have people pack for us (previously always packed and unpacked myself, MUCH prefer it!!) and when the boxes arrived, the nightmare started... In one box they had packed half a bag of sugar, without securing it or putting it in an extra bag... Everything coated in sugar... Another box said videos... It had ONE video in it and a lot of other rubbish. Shoes... one shoe in one box, another in another (labelled pans...) It was a true nightmare...

So glad you at least have it all out in the open and not all sugar sticky! Just keep thinking... It could be worse!

Ah, and what I am doing this weekend? Much the same! No we have not moved, but might as well... Since having building work done in the kitchen last year, everything got 'temporarily' dumped in the cellar, so before both boys came back from travels, I decided to take everything out, get the dust out and hoover, and put it back... Did not quite finish... (part of the cellar stuff still in kitchen and lounge..), then the boys came in with suitcases full of washing etc and needed the back to school treatment (new clothes etc) so it got left... So this weekend I will need to finish that and rearrange the rest of the house that did not get done because of it... Bit like moving really.... I will think of you!

Good luck!

I'm still giggling at the thought of movers unloading your fabric. Would have loved to be a fly on the wall that day!
this weekend I'll be TRYING to get some projects done around the house, but will be pining for the craftroom the whole time. :)

I thought I was the only one with that much stash ;-) Try to find time to enjoy the weekend, although I'm sure getting organized with make you feel better. Oh, and fondling the stash will help too.

I look at your pictures and two thoughts go through my mind..goodness would I love to have that much fabric..and...that's exactly how it would stay for months and months in my home if it were mine lol
I'm not a big one for having movers do the work for me, we've always had bad experiences with it, so I feel for ya.
As for this weekend, I'm gonna get caught up on some much needed sleep :)
