Happy Thanksgiving!

Good morning folks! Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful this year? I am thankful for tons of things. I am thankful for my family, getting to spend another wonderful year with my husband and kiddos... I am thankful to be back to sewing my bags. This one is a new design named the "Sabrina Bag". I have made it a couple times as a civilian bag, but the design was easy enough to adapt to the ACU. Sabrina wanted a more hobo, slouchy shoulder bag out of her husband's top. She also wanted it to be quilted all over with hearts. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. You can see more pictures on my Flickr.http://www.flickr.com/photos/campfollowerbagsandquilts/

So, here is a story for you....and another reason to be thankful (at least for our family). You may or may not know this, but My daughter Emma, is hearing impaired. She wears bilateral hearing aides and they have really made a massive difference in her life. Well, like most 9 year old girls she loves being outside playing with her little friends. She is quite the queen of the gang around here since there are really only little boys in our neighborhood. Lots and lots of little boys. She gets on very well with them and bosses them all around. Like many males, they seem to like it just fine. Well, Monday evening she was out at the playground running around and having a great time. I was getting ready to start dinner and showing a young AF 2LT some fabric selections for her bag I will be making for her. Emma and 2 little boys storm into the house and demand the metal detector. The panic in their faces was not a good sign, so we grabbed metal detector while Emma announced that she lost her hearing aide out in the playground. Damn. The playground is covered with wood chip mulch. Brownish colored mulch, very similar to her new touch technology aides....and it is twilight, not the best time to begin a zone search of the playgound. By the time we get out the the playgournd I see there are about 40 bodies in it, all searching for a lost hearing aide. Moms, dads, kids and pets. (we live in a great neighborhood) I was envisioning her 3 thousand dollar hearing aide getting crushed beneath all those well-meaning feet. I thanked everyone for their help, but politely requested they move out so there would be less chance of the aide being stepped on. The park cleared out. Emma, 2 of my girlfriends and our children began searching. Our feet and hands were quickly covered with fire ant bites and the sun continued it's plunge beneath the horizon. We broke out flashlights...still no luck. On of the little boys was determined that he knew just where it fell so he doggedly searched his area. Right as I was about to call it quits and pray our insurance covers loss...he thrusts his dirty little hand in my face and announces that he has found it! Oh such a happy day!

So what do you do for a little boy who has done such a great thing? Why you make him a monster doll of course! Emma and I made this guy as a thank you. I really love JunkerJane's soft creations. So I am sure you can see her influence in this little man. He is wearing Air Force Pants, since the little boys dad is an Air Force man.
Well, I need to go help out making our little Thanksgiving day feast! Have a wonderful day and be grateful for your blessings.

Oh, I have listed some of the bags in my shop...but I still have a heap left. They are all on sale, so scoop them up while you can!

xo,
Tia

I love a story with a happy ending. I had a similar experience with teh boy next door finding my engagement ring which I had lost while gardening. I didn't think to make him a monster doll though...
