Surgery is over

Early this morning my husband had some vertebrae in his spine fused and the procedure went quite well. He has had a broken back for years and we just found out when his spine began slipping.Thank goodness it is over. I had forgotten the stress and anxiety that goes hand in hand with hospital stays. Back surgery has come a very very long way and his stay will only be a very brief one. I just wanted to offer you a quick thank you from our household for your prayers and thoughts. I have discovered that I have a great deal of trouble sewing when my mind is horribly preoccupied with the "what ifs" that have plagued me. I have a ton of things started, but very little finished due to my very very short attention span. My house is very clean...apparently I like to clean and vacuum if I am not sewing. Who knew?

So, since no blog post would be complete without a pretty picture, what do you think of my Heaven and Earth quilt? Most of the quilting is finished...I am debating going back and doing some hand quilting , but I do need to bind it. I started this beasty back in September when my mom and I went to Michigan for Gwen Marston's Beaver Island Quilt Retreat.

Ok, I am heading back to the hospital to check on my husband. Have a lovely evening.

Tia

SO glad to hear that the husband is through surgery and doing well. This quilt is absolutely beautiful. I am blown away by it. The different elements (crosses, stars, triangly pennants) are your signature pieces. The colors are so lively! I think this might be my most favorite thing of yours I have ever seen. And that is miraculous because you have a ton of awesome work!

You and me both Jennifer! Thank you so much! I will bring the quilt up to Dallas so Gwen can see it. It is sooooo much better in real life. Has anyone dropped out yet? I hope you can come!!!

I know you are relieved now that your husband is through the surgery and can concentrate on recovering. I hope it's a speedy process.

Amazing quilt! I absolutely love those stars. And the memories it holds of your trip with your mom are priceless.
