Happy morning to you! How are you doing this morning? I hope you are good. So...what do you think when you see this happening to your bed?
And this? Oh and you can hear chewing from inside the wood? I will tell you what I think...Get this bed out of my house! And they did. The shop was very nice and came to pick up this bed (the second one from the same shop) and gave us a check so we could have our money back. I am not bad mouthing the store. They were great and really embarrassed that this was happening. I just want you to know what it looks like when beetles come crunching their way out of your furniture. Look at this as educational.
The worm eaten look is pretty...but naturally I assumed all the worms would have been "gotten rid of" before moving the bed into our home. I guess there were some stragglers. Sunday night I was laying in bed wide awake...with my husband beside me...and we were listening to the chewing of many teeth coming from inside the wood. We laughed about being thankful we didn't have a wooden leg or the beetles would be after us. And my husband asked me why I even worry about bed bugs at hotels when we have powder post beetles drilling their way in and out of our bed in our house?
This is one of the creatures trying to get out of the wood...I guess so he could go mate with his friends who were also trying to get out of the bed frame. Stu was laughing at me because I was insistent on NOT buying a bed from China. We had waited almost 13 years to buy a nice bed and I wanted something made in the US out of REAL wood, not press board. Well, our bed was made in Mexico out of real wood...but it came with beetles! I have to laugh. It is really just not possible for me to things the easy way.
So now this is our room. There is ever so much more space! We are doing the just married thing where we just toss the box-springs on the floor and sleep there. I must say that last night was the best night of sleep I have had in months. Tomorrow Stu and I have been married for 14 years. Gosh I love that man, and I am so happy he has a sense of humor about the trials I drag him through.

Happy Anniversary!
Maybe when you're back in Kansas you can find an handmade bed you love (minus the creatures). I think there are some Amish furniture builders not to far from the Kansas City areas.
Oh no, how disappointing (and totally gross at the same time!). Great news that the store took it back and refunded your money. I'm sure that bed wasn't inexpensive. Uhm, how about Ikea? Less rustic, but beetle-free for sure!
Happy Anniversary tomorrow!!
Wow, what a disappointment after the first fiasco with the original bed!! You should consider making them fumigate your house, too, LOL!!
great story.... I love that it is true. Happy Anniversary! It is so nice when you find someone to laugh over wood beetles with.
