Hero Order

I have finished the fairly large Hero bag and quilt order I have been slaving away on. So if you wondering why I am behind, that is the reason. I am so honored to make my Hero Bags and Quilts, but it is mentally difficult work. Emotionally challenging to hold, press and alter uniforms once worn by healthy and strong men. Men who are not coming home to their wives or families. I mourn for these men and their families. That may sound strange, but I do. They are my brothers in arms...

OK, I didn't mean for this to be a sad post. E. Spence wanted a messenger bag that would grow with her daughter, so I created a new bag. It is adjustable, so I had my brood model it.

My fine 3 year old model. This is his version of standing at attention.
My 5 year old Model. His version of a salute....we are working on it.

The pictures are out of order....I don't know why it does this. Oh well, this is the rest of the Spence order. I love how the quilt turned out.

My 7 year old model. She has the most military baring of the lot. Must get that from her father.

I am still working hard on..... ( I am working on a ton, but these should be up soon)

Love, Hastings, Herzog, Walsh, Stull, Nager, and Anderson. You ladies should have some looks up soon. Please forgive the long wait. I know I have had your stuff so long. I am working as fast as I can.

xo,
Tia

Beautiful set there :) I think I would bawl my eyes out working on any of your hero items. So sad. It's such a beautiful thing that you do.

You're great. I'm sure that's a mentally exhausting experience, but you are my hero for doing it. Wish I was there to help you cut, or iron or do your dishes or something. ☺ (Because then I could justify not doing my own dishes.)

I understand the sentiment it is hard working on a project that is so emotionally draining, I'm about to start one for a woman who's husband died of brain cancer and she is not much older than me....stressful.

I totally don't get how the bag is adjustable..I see the strap is longer one side but how is it attached?

Hi Y'all, Thanks for the support. You are all welcome to stop by anytime you are in town...monday, wednesday and friday are my good sewing days.

Brit, I am an idiot for not showing the adjustable part. Woops. It is with button holes up the strap. I will put a pic up on my flickr. Good luck on your cancer project. My mom had a couple brain tumors. Thank Heaven they were found and removed in time. I don't know what I would do without that spunky lady.

The name on that bag made me cry. We lost a great friend 3 years ago. J. Spence. Makes me wonder if that bag is for his wonderful wife and little girl. Beautiful job. It is a wonderful thing you are doing, keeping them so close in a small way. They will forever be our hereos.

Tia- I can't wait till these arrive. Thank you for the care, thought and love you put into your bags. These pieces may bring even more tears, and will surely be treasured.

Beth- It is for me (and my little girl)! But don't say anything to my mother-in-law...or on my blog. Hers is a surprise.
