I love this set. I love it for several reasons, the main reason is because the lady I made it for seems to be a pretty fantastic human being. I don't sew for dorks as you all know, but this lady is quite a swell lady. She read one of my blogs complaining about not having anything to read, so you know what? She sent me some books along with her husbands uniform top! How awesome is that? I have read them all. Thank you so much! I made her a little wallet for a thank you. I would have made her a quilty hug...but I just don't have the time.
I want you all to have quilty hugs! I have several here at the house so I guess I should do a class. hummmmmm....How should I do this? Maybe a quilt along? I have in mind a very strippy shrug quilt. Like a shawl. I have to finish up my bags first, but then get ready ladies we are going to sew! I am going to kick it off here in Alice with a little class for the ladies in town. After we all work out the kinks I will post it here on the blog. Let me know if you want to play along here at the house (I supply the fabric...you supply the food) we will make it a party.
Next issue is vision. Who among you has vision problems? I want to know about those of you with reduced peripheral vision. I swear lately it looks like I am looking down a foggy tunnel. My central vision is clear as a bell but my peripheral vision SUCKS. I have been to the site DR several times with this issue and I am waiting for an appt with the "real" eye DR here in town. He left for the holidays, so hopefully he will return soon. My vision tests perfect 20/20 and all that, but my peripheral vision is driving me nuts.
For those of you who are new to the blog, we are stationed in a "remote duty station" basically it means that the medical care available here in town is similar to that available in the early 1960s. If you want anything more than a CT scan you have to take a 4 hour flight to Adelaide. I am not complaining...maybe this is just God telling me it is time to go back to reality. I don't know.
Oh on another note...I saw the Inaugural Speech on Yahoo. I did not vote for Obama, but that man is a fine speaker. My prayers are with him and all that he wants to accomplish. I pray for wisdom for him and the people he appoints to advise him. They will all need it. What a kettle of fish!

I can't wait to play along out here in cyber-space. Or Siber-space, in my case.
Your peripheral vision problem sounds scary! Has it always been like that or is it a new thing?
I just have a bit of near=sightedness, with a touch of your basic "over 40" vision (lol) and the color blind thing thrown in. :)

The bizarre vision is a fairly new thing...I swear if it is not one thing it is another with us down here in the middle of nowhere. Typically I have this strange kalidoscope brightness first where I basiclly can't see at all for about 30 to 45 min. I thought it was just eye strain from not wearing a hat outside (hence all the hats I made last month;o). My DR is telling me it is just visual migraines...but they don't "hurt" as much as they are just really really inconvient. I thought Migraines we supposed to make you want to go to bed and sleep all day from the pain? I guess this life as a pioneer woman in the desert is just taking it's toll on me.
Oh and way to go on your bags! Awesome!
I am loving the inside of that bag!
let me know what that is okay?
Sorry to hear about your vision, hope you get releif quick.
I am nearsighted. wear glasses.
I also have migraines and when I do I have all the symptoms including changes in my vision, so that Dr. may have a point...
Hey Rachel. Thanks for the sweet words. I think it must be migraines and a bit of hypertension mixed in for fun. I am supposed to take it easy on my eyes for a week or so and see what happens. The inside of the bag is the big floral from Anna Maria Horners' Garden Party line. I LOVE it! It comes in several colorways. I also made this hat using the navy blue version.

I hope you find some, it is lots of fun to work with!
Cheers,
Tia
I want to give away quilty hugs all the time too..but it just isn't possible. YOu are much faster than I am on the quilting scene and you know..there is just no way to make quilts for all...sigh. Too bad. Everyone deserves a quilt!
I don't know about the vision, but YUCKO! Take care of that, you are entirely too talented to be dealing with that. Best wishes!!!
I would definately go see an eye doctor about your vision. Preferably one who is accredited. Hopefully it is only strain from stress and fatigue. I get migraines with visual disturbances but my central vision is affected. There usually isn't any pain associated with the vision problem but then the headache comes on after the vision problem goes away. The vision problem is usually called an "aura". My only advice for peripheral vision problems are to research it on the web (ie WebMD) and go see an eye doctor. Best of luck!
Jes
PS: My vision used to be something crazy like 20/2000, but now it's in the normal range thanks to laser surgery...best present I ever bought myself!
