Anyway, Here I am feeling miserable and I heard the mail man downstairs. SO I scuff down to see what he left for me and immediately I felt a gazillion times better! My swaps came!!!! I would have hooted if I had the voice to do it with. I participated in the Doll Quilt Swap 8 and the pillow swap and both came on the same day! Who would have thought?
SO first up is this wonderful doll quilt by Mendi. Look at all that hand stitching! All the patterns on the fabric have been stitched around. How much time did this take and where was she when she was making this little thing for me? I always think about that when I see hand stitching. Especially now that I do it more. Small things are portable...did she take it to the dentist, while she was waiting in the car pool line, maybe she was watching a great movie?? I just love it.
She also gave me some little bits of Heather Ross...no not her toes or fingers or anything creepy, but two great Munki Munki prints. I have never seen the candy corn before. Both are now safely in my Munki munki stacks over on the fabric shelves to be used someday when I am brave enough to cut into it. Oh I just am so thrilled! Thank you Mendi! I (Stu really) am going to hang it up with my other doll quilts as soon as my husband gets home.
Now here is the Pillow! It is from Tacha in Germany. I love Tacha's work...I have been a fan since she sent me some star blocks for the Bushfire Quilt Project. I loved this pillow since she gave her little hints but I sure didn't figure I would be lucky enough to get it! Oh I just adore it. I have already stuffed a pillow in it and it is on my crafty chair in the living room. She did such a great job on this pillow case. Aren't' the houses like Ingrid Press? and I love the colors and the linen....and word fabric! Oh, Tacha thank you so much! I love it. I want to smell it. I bet it smells like Germany. But my sniffer is out of commission today.
Look at my pretty things together. I couldn't be happier. Thank you ladies!
Here is someone else who makes me happy. My little Sam is 5 today. This is one hard living guy. Note the busted forehead and chipped front teeth? Sam talks all day long. From the moment he wakes up in the morning until he finally falls asleep at night, well even then he talks in his sleep. He always has a plan and loves to draw, paint, glue, cut and create rockets. I love this little fellow. And I am so very honored that God selected Stu and I to be his parents. He is a force of nature and a complete blessing. I love being a mother. I have 3 pretty fabulous kiddos. We are not doing a birthday party for him, just a nice family dinner (lamb Stew) and a carrot cake (that is what he wants) with candles. He got a quilt for Christmas, so I am making his a crazy looking little doll. I saw Junker Jane's creations and couldn't help but try to make one for Sam.
OK, my burst of happiness has left me quite weary. Maybe I can get a quick nap before my husband and the kiddos get home.
Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Sam!
He sounds like my Amelie. I can never get a word in edgeways with her and she is full of plans. In fact she spends most of her time planning rather than playing!
Get better soon too Tia! So glad you like the pillow. It was a lot of fun to make!
Happy 5th bithday to Sam!!!
Love your swaps. Both of them are simply delightful! I can see why it cheered you up (a little).
