Moving In....

Good Morning Everyone!

Yesterday, bright and Early, our truck arrived. It was packed brim full with our stuff. We have 11 thousand pounds of "things". Humm....I know we are not supposed to be materialistic, and we are not supposed to worry about our possessions, but it sure is nice to have that 11 thousand pounds of stuff unloaded and stacked up inside our new house. It already feels more like a home.

All day yesterday we unpacked boxes and boxes of things. Even with that, I only unpacked half of the kitchen. I really enjoy cooking and it sure shows with all my pots and pans and bowls and plates....not to mention the utensils. We have a good number of cabinets in this kitchen so it is fun finding the right home for all my little things. I have always wanted a pot rack. Simple desire, right? Well, the ceilings in the past have never supported one. The studs were in awkward places...or the framing was wrong. So finally my dear mate has found a way to make a pot rack for me. It is simple, but it sure does the trick. I am happy as a clam. I still have about 8 more big kitchen/dining room boxes to unpack today. We did do a quick hit of the bedrooms yesterday and I must say it was sooooooooo nice to sleep in a real bed again. ahh.

So we were having a bit of a celebration last night after the sun went down and we had quit unpacking for the day. Stu and I were out on the back porch enjoying a nice Australian Shiraz when I noticed a dark movement right by my foot ( I was barefoot mind you) and I thought it was a mouse. When I looked down It was a big fat tarantula. I jerked my foot up under my bottom and I may have squeaked a bit (I am only human after all) but my second noise was "oh Stu! lets' catch him! Keep him busy while I find a container" So we now have a Texas Tarantula for a guest. We gave him a June bug and a grasshopper last night to dine on. There is a grisly mess left in his container this morning. My across the street neighbor has been blessed with 5 little boys, so we are going to offer him to her as a pet. A "thank you gift" for welcoming us so nicely to the neighborhood. I don't think I would want this gift....but they may.
OK, I have work to do. Have a great day, folks!
xo,
Tia

If you brought me that as a gift, you would so NOT be my friend!

That's funny! I know I wouldn't want one as a gift either. But you should see her little boys! They are forever running around with jars and containers with horrible creatures inside.

Beware: They can jump really high and suddenly...

Seriously, Nikki? That is kinda creepy. I don't think I wanted to know that.

having your own things (and bed) sure makes it feel more like home. And if I had seen the spider, you would be peeling me off the nearest flagpole. I fear heights less than I do spiders!
