A new critter
Hey there! Last week my husband and I went on a date to the pound. We met this fellow. After several visits he has come home to live with us. They say he is part lab and part golden retriever. He is enormous whatever he is. He is also about 4 years old.
So far he is a good guy. He fetches wonderfully, and sits and lays down on command instantly. It is kinda funny. He enjoys chomping ice, chasing the cat laser pointer toy, and herding Stanley. Stanley is not real crazy about that. All in all there has been alot of the above going on. and A LOT of fetch. He is a smart dog and eager to learn.
He does have a Lipoma on his side and a smaller one on his chest. He has a vet appointment so they can tell me more about them. He was at the pound for almost an entire month and seems quite happy to be here in our household.
We need a good name for him. I like to name my pets after Generals. Stanley McCrystal and Eisenhower (Ellie is not a general she is just scenery). Sherman is in the running, but he did burn down Atlanta...so he is not my favorite. McArthur had the biggest surrender of US forces in history so I am not wild about him either. Do you know any good generals? Preferably big and red headed and having a fondness for fetching.

hugs to you and yours!
He looks very friendly and relaxed. I am sorry I don't have any suggestions for general names...
He looks like a great dog. I have a five year old golden lab cross and he is the BEST! It is the perfect cross in my opinion! I hope things at the vet go well. I don't have a name suggestion. Our dog came with the name Butch,,, not too original but it suits him. Enjoy your new boy!
Nathaniel Greene, Henry Knox, Winfield Scott? He looks like a great dog. :)
How 'bout "Custer"? I think he had reddish hair.
I love your blog & check it every day!
You're a wonderful little family, and I'm living my military wife's life vicariously through you!
Stay wonderful!
Love, Your Florida cousin, Helen
He's gorgeous! As for generals, what about Longstreet, Pickett, or Stonewall Jackson?
How about Petreaus, 'cuz supposedly, his shit don't stink!
What about Patton, Pershing, or Marshall?
My great granddad seriously disliked Pershing for how he took care of his horses. So, maybe not him.
And definitely not Powell.
Patreaus I like!
