last minute halloween skeleton costume
Happy Halloween! I know this may not help you much this year, but it may be just the ticket next year. What do you do when it is last minute and your kids still don't know exactly what they want to be for halloween? Well, I will tell you what you can do. Make them skeletons. It is cheap and so easy!
All you need is white acrylic paint, a brush, a bit of water and maybe a glass of wine (this is an old vine Zin).
The game changer is this...a black sweat suit. It was $5 for the top and $5 for the bottom. Oh and a kid. Any kid will do really. But I am using my middle man.
Now all you do is paint bones on the sweat suit. I started with the sternum (chest bone) and branched out into the clavicles and ribs.
Make your kid/model stand still with his arms out to the sides so you can make the ribs wrap around the sides like they do in real life.
The pelvis is a bit ticklish, but just do it quick and don't make a big deal out of it.
Pretty cool I think. Frankly I have always wanted to make this costume, but I have never had kids that supported my artistic whims like I did this year. I wanted Emma to be a skeleton too, but she would have nothing to do with it.
***** Just be sure to make them stand up and not touch ANYTHING until they are dry (about an hour for us). Good luck with that by the way. I have white acrylic paint all over the place.
Happy Halloween!!!!!!
